Folklore Institute's Director refutes discovery of an old manuscript of "Koroghlu" epos

According to Huseyn Ismayilov "Koroghlu" epos kept in Georgia Manuscript’s Institute was written in Arabian.

Distinguished scientist of Eastern studies Dilara Aliyeva researched the mentioned manuscript. The manuscript was brought to Baku in 1989 very hardly. Though Dilara Aliyava began to translate 750 paged manuscripts into Cyrillic alphabet she could not finish it.

The work was completed by young researcher Elnara Tofighizi. Thus as it is written in Tabriz dialect the 2005 printed version was called "Tabriz version".

Huseyn Ismayilov also commented on how the manuscript emerged in Georgia manuscript’s Institute.

"This manuscript was brought from Tabriz to Azerbaijan in the 30s of last century. Those were troubled years for Azerbaijan so it was given to Tbilisi archive."

Georgia Manuscript Institute's deputy director Georgiy Kalandia told the ANS that more 350 old manuscript unknown for Azerbaijan are in Georgia. Folklore Institute's director thinks this statement is not worth considering.

"Our scientists many times visited Tbilisi and researched those manuscripts. Most probably duplicates of those manuscripts were taken to Baku. But we should check the fact once more."
