Azerbaijani President congratulates Orthodox Christians on Easter

The President said that religions play great role in establishing humanism, solidarity, tolerance and in the formation of ethnic-religious tolerance.

"Azerbaijani government pays great attention to the development of languages and cultures of national minorities, ethnic-cultural difference, and protection of historical and moral heritage. Necessary political-moral conditions have been created in independent Azerbaijan for ensuring freedom of conscious, based on democratic principles and international legal norms. Religious layer of the country, as well as Christian community are enjoying their religious traditions, holidays and ceremonies freely and playing active role in socio-political, cultural and moral life and in the establishment of civil society," the President said.

Noting that Easter is celebrated in Azerbaijan every year Ilham Aliyev congratulated Orthodox Christians on the holiday.
