Misir Mardanov: "New education bill will punish parents for drawing children away from school"

There are no cases of evading school during primary education in Azerbaijan. Education Minister Misir Mardanov stated.

However, the minister said there are some cases of girls evading school in the southern regions of the country.

"There is no problem concerning attendance of pupils in secondary schools. We have problem with senior pupils. We can say that everyone in Azerbaijan can read and write at present," the minister underlined.

Mr.Mardanov said that no punishment is intended in Azerbaijani legislation on parents for drawing their children away from school.

The new education law will consider punishment of parents for that, APA reports.
