21-storey building collapses in Baku

Upper part of an under-construction building at the intersection of Nizami and Fikret Amirov streets (behind British embassy) in Baku collapsed.

The incident happened at about 14.30. 21-storey building is being constructed by Neptun Company. Officers of Emergencies Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office have arrived in the site,  APA reports.

Emergencies Ministry officer Kamil Bagirov told journalists that negligence of safety rules caused the incident.

"Investigations are being carried out. Additional information will be given about the investigation," he said.

No casualties have been reported yet.

According to some reports two were injured. Officer of State Labor Inspection Razi Bayramzadeh told the APA witnesses say that there are casualties.

"But we cannot make it clear as we are not allowed to the site," he said.
