Finland names squad against Azerbaijan

Finland coach Roy Hodgson named a 26-man squad on Thursday for a Euro 2008 qualifier against Azerbaijan on March 28 in Baku.

Hodgson will cut the squad to between 20 and 22 players after a training camp.

Finland lead qualifying Group A with 11 points from Serbia and Poland on 10. Azerbaijan are bottom of the group with one point.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Jussi Jaaskelainen (Bolton Wanderers), Peter Enckelman (Blackburn Rovers), Niki Maenpaa (Den Bosch).

Defenders: Petri Pasanen (Werder Bremen), Sami Hyypia (Liverpool), Hannu Tihinen (Zurich), Toni Kallio (Young Boys), Toni Kuivasto (Djurgarden), Jari Ilola (Elfsborg), Markus Heikkinen (Luton Town), Ari Nyman (Thun), Veli Lampi (Zurich) and Iiro Aalto (HJK).

Midfielders: Joonas Kolkka (Feyenoord) , Mika Vayrynen (PSV Eindhoven), Peter Kopteff (Utrecht), Alexei Eremenko (Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast), Jari Litmanen (Malmo), Jarkko Wiss (Tampere United), Mika Nurmela (HJK), Teemu Tainio (Tottenham Hotspur) and Roman Eremenko (Siena).

Strikers: Jonatan Johansson (Malmo), Shefki Kuqi (Crystal Palace), Mikael Forssell (Birmingham City) and Roni Porokara (Honka). Reuters
