Miquel Anhel Moratinos, OSCE Chairman-in Office addressing the conference emphasized the importance of effective use of water resources and the protection of water basins as the main aspects of security of country and called states for broad cooperation in this field, OSCE's Main Office in Vienna told APA.
"The climate changes are the realities of our days, these climate changes directly impacts the safety of OSCE countries as well as other countries worldwide."
The OSCE initiatives on the effective use of water resources were discussed at the meeting, addressing the problems of Caspian basin, results of monitoring on the quality of the Kyur and Arax rivers and the issues on situation in Sava, Dniestr, Chu and Talas rivers. The conference was attended by approximately 200 official representatives, NGO representatives and heads of international organizations.
Representatives of the Azerbaijan Ecology and National Resources Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, 'Melioration and Water' OJSC, NGO 'Ruzgar' participated in the conference.
