FameLab is an initiative of the Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK, British Council's Azerbaijani Office told APA.
FameLab is aimed at encouraging young scientists to inspire and excite public imagination with a vision of science in the 21st century. The competition is searching for new faces that will be able to develop their ideas and presentation skills for TV ideas. The speeches should be entertaining and original, scientifically accurate but also engaging to a non-scientific audience. In semifinal on March, 15th, 10 finalists will be chosen among 50 competitors.
Those 10 semifinalists will compete on March, 30th to join the UK finalists at the Cheltenham Science Festival. All ten semifinalists will be awarded with i-Pods. The winner will attend the “Cheltenham“Science Festival 2007 in the UK and receive Toshiba notebook from Bank Standard, all expenses of the winner to be covered by British Council.
Steve Mesure, CreScENDO chairman will arrive in Baku to take part in the project on March, 16-17. He will organize trainings for local pupils on the subject 'Energy in our life'.
On March, 17, Steve Mesure will organize training for 10 finalists on "How the best talk could be made before TV audience?" The training will focus on press, live speeches, live interview before TV cameras and work on radio.
