Capitan of Azerbaijani Armed Forces sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in jail

Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes presided over by judge Gadim Babayev held the trial of the officer of Defense Ministry, Capitan Elchin Samadov.

The court sentenced the Capitan to 8 year and 6 months in jail.

Samadov took bribe- $100 from relatives of the soldier of military unit Hasan Abbasov, besides, AZN50 to appoint him responsible for the depot.

Later Abbasov's mother offered him AZN40 to promote her son to sergeant.

August 14, 2006 Abbasov was killed. So, Samadov could not give up taking bribes. He was accused of Article 311 (taking bribe) of the Criminal Code, APA reports.
