180 Azeri citizens granted refugee status in Ukraine

55 of near 2.000 foreigner applicants in 2006 were granted refugee status in Ukraine, stated Ukrainian State Committee on Nationalities and Migration.

The number of applicants has doubled in comparison with 2001. In general, 2275 people have been granted refugee status in last 10 years of which 1189 are Afghan citizens, 208 Armenians, 180 Azerbaijanis and 128 Russians ( mostly from Chechnya). There are also Georgian, Congo and Sudan citizens among the refugee status grantees, APA reports.
