Legal procedure on Akif Muradverdiyev appeal to start, Feb 28

The trial on the appeal filed against the judgement on Akif Muradverdiyev, former officer of President's Office will start on February 28, Reshad Mirmehtizadeh, the lawyer to Muradverdiyev stated.

Though Muradverdiyev's lawyers filed an appeal against the judgment of the preliminary trial of Appeals Court, Supreme Court kept the judgement in force.

Muradverdiyev was sentenced to 6 years in the trial presided by the Judge of the Court of Grievous Crimes. Muradverdiyev faced charges on Article 179.3.2 (embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of power), 311 (bribing), 313 (fraud) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation into the case on charges under Article 28.278 (staging coup) and 28.220 (coup attempt) of the Criminal Code continues.

Muradverdiyev is being cured in the medical place of Penitentiary Service, APA reports.
