The officers of Baku Traffic Police Department (BTPD) conduct raids in the capital to control use of safety belts.

BTPD official Vagif Asadov told the APA that over 500 drivers were fined for not using safety belts.

Asadov noted that in accordance with the 36th item of law on traffic rules to use safety belts is obligatory.

He said that the analyses of traffic incidents prove that not-using safety belts by drivers and passengers increase seriousness of the accidents. The violators of these rules are fined.

The chief of the department said that most of the accidents occur in Baku and that is why it is important to use safety belts.

BTPD has increased its efforts in order to increase use of safety belts and will take measures against the ones who violate traffic rules.
