Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has launched a criminal case against the editor-in-chief of newspaper "Jamiyyat and ganun" (Society and law) Gabil Shaldiyev and the newspaper's correspondent Famil Hasanov.

Chief of Interior Ministry Department to Fight Organized Crimes Farhad Suleymanov told the APA Hasanov and Shaldiyev are accused under Article 178.2.1 and 178.2.4 (roguishness), 320.1, 320.2 (forgery, use and selling of state official documents, state awards, stamps and blanks).

The department chief said that if citizens have additional facts against these people, they should appeal to the Department. Suleymanov did not rule out their arrest in case of additional information.

Press Council chief Aflatun Amashov told the APA he appealed to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov related to these persons.

"These persons were blackmailing owners of different establishments and demanding money on behalf of me. After my appeal, the law enforcement bodies took necessary measures to prevent this," Amashov said.
