Samples from Azerbaijani bird flu suspect to be sent to London

Resident of Azerbaijani region of Neftchala 38-year old Zamina Zeynalova, who was suspected of contracting bird flu died at the Scientific Institute of Lungs Diseases at about 02.00 tonight.

Zeynalova was hospitalized on February 2. Samples from Zeynalova will be sent to the World Health Organization reference laboratory in London.

The WHO representative office in Azerbaijan told the APA they have already received the samples and they will be sent to London tonight.

The results of the tests are expected to be announced at the end of this week at the request of Azerbaijan.

Zeynalova's samples are also being examined in the Viral Laboratory of Health Ministry's Station against Plague and Agriculture Ministry's Republic Veterinary Laboratory by PCR method.
