Baku to host Iranians' Isfahan Art Exhibit

31 January 2007 [12:09] - TODAY.AZ
A five-day cultural and artistic exhibition featuring Isfahan will be held in Baku to mark the victory anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Announcing this, Iran's Deputy Cultural Attache in Baku Hamid Safari said that given the fact that Isfahan was designated the cultural capital of Islamic world in 2006, plans to organize the event were drawn up during Isfahan Province Cultural Week.

He told IRNA that inscriptions, artistic products, handicrafts including inlaid works, enameled works and miniatures as well as the other relics pertaining to Isfahan will be on public display at the event.

Meanwhile, four Iranian artists will attend an exposition to introduce the said disciplines and tourism capabilities of the picturesque city, he said, adding that the event will end on February 5.

Safari further stated that on February 7, Iranian poets and Azerbaijani cultural figures will take part in a night of poetry featuring Ashura--the tenth day of the lunar mourning month of Muharram which marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the infallible household of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), along with his loyal companions in Karbala, Iraq.

The objective of the poetry night is to better introduce various aspects of Imam Hussein's (AS) uprising and Islamic Revolution, he noted.

The diplomat further said that the Iranian Cultural Center will publish an Azeri language magazine titled 'Towards the Light' featuring the important achievements of Islamic Revolution in 1,500 copies in Baku each year.

Earlier, on Monday, the Iranian Cultural Center in Baku organized an exhibition titled 'Ashura Rituals' featuring photos and calligraphy works by artists from West Azerbaijan province. IranMania
