19,045 criminal cases recorded in 2006

19,045 criminal cases were recorded in Azerbaijan in 2006, 1,711 or 9% of which are grievous crimes.

37% of the crimes were against the personality, 32% against public security and public rules, 26% economic, 5% against the state, State Statistics Committee told the APA.

In comparison with the crimes recorded in 2005 the facts on rape reduced to 20.5%, deliberately murdering to 7.3%, robbery to 3%, hooliganism to 2.7%, theft to 0.6% in the crimes recorded in 2006. 10814 were injured, 1,399 died as a result of the crimes committed last year. 7% of the dead are under age. 267 of the crimes are murdering or trying to murder, 250 damaging health, 21 are kidnapping. 366 of these crimes were committed by foreign citizens. 17,927 out of the crimes are uncovered. 1879 of the uncovered crimes were committed by a group of men, 1,699 previously sentenced, 544 by drunken, 431 by under aged or with their participation. 18,564 violators of the law were found last year, 66% of which was held accountable. 88% of them were economically active age, worked nowhere, 8% are previously sentenced, 4% were drunk and 14% are women. The number of traffic accidents increased by 0.6 and 3197 traffic accidents were recorded last year. 4,633 were injured, 1,027 died as a result of the accidents. 43.9% of the traffic accidents committed by vehicles and pedestrians, 36.6% by several vehicles, 19.5% by one vehicle.
