Azerbaijani Composers Union to hold VIII congress

A special commission has been established for this purpose and the applications of the participants are being accepted, Secretary of Azerbaijani Composers Union Ramiz Zohrabov told the APA.

"The congress will be held in Azerbaijan State Philharmonic, Opera and Ballet Theater and Baku Music Academy within a week. After opera, chamber music, classical and symphonic music are played, the last day of the congress the chief of the union will be elected. Only highly-educated musicians will participate in the elections," he said.

Zohrabov said that foreign guests will be invited to the congress.

"The works composed within last 5-6 years will be played during a week. The author of the music that will win, will be the chief of the Composers Union," he said.

Ramiz Zohrabov said that different congresses with participation of young composers are planned to be held before the congress.
