UEFA suspends Sergey Sokolov for 18 months

11 January 2007 [02:31] - TODAY.AZ
UEFA Disciplinary Committee held a session in its headquarters in Nyon.

The Committee made a firm decision on Azerbaijani football team player Sergey Sokolov who failed a doping test as betametazone preparation was found in his blood after the game with Belgium on October 11 last year. Karabakh football club player was suspended for 18 months.

UEFA officials invited the player and team doctor Ramiz Kerimov to Nyon to interrogate them. Ramiz Kerimov tried to explain to Disciplinary Committee members what medicine and injections the player took, but it did not help to avoid the firm decision. APA
