Azerbaijan's tallest New Year tree set up in the center of the capital, Baku, a few days ago was pushed down by powerful gushes of wind in the early hours of Wednesday, causing no injuries.

It took several days to decorate the 82-feet tree with colored baubles and sparkling garlands but the magnificent creation failed to withstand the wind in the mountainous South Caucasus country.

The local mayor's office could not say whether the tree, the largest of the 20 Christmas trees in the city, would be put up again. RIA Novosti
