62.7% entrants gains 0-200 points in tests

State Student Admission Commission (SSAC) held a presentation of the 12th issue of the "Abiturient" magazine reflecting the scientific-statistic analysis of the overall results of student admission for 2006-2007.

SSAC chairman Maleyka Abbaszadeh said that the number of the entrants this year was more compared with the previous years. She said that 103196 entrants applied for 25629 vacancies. 2761 were admitted to master's degree, 23817 to bachelor's degree, 8488 were admitted to the technical schools from secondary education and 7217 from basic education.

State Management Academy under president leads the rating list of higher schools. Azerbaijan State Medical University comes the second, Baku State University the third, Azerbaijan Languages University is the fourth in the list. Caucasus University is the leader among the private universities.

Maleyka Abbaszadeh said that the number of the entrants showing weak results reached to 39.6%. This indicator was 37% last year, APA reports.

"62.7% of the entrants gained 0-200 points, 15.2% 200-400 points, 22.1% 400-700 points. The majority of the entrants from Imishli, Agsu, Tartar, Hajigabul, Gedebey, Agjabedi, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Kengerli region gained less than 100 points in the tests."
