Geigel Lake to be granted National Park Status

26 December 2006 [09:59] - TODAY.AZ
Geigel Lake State Reserve is expected to receive National Park Status in January, 2007.

Reserve Director Bilal Valiyev told APA bureau that the Land and Cartography Committee reviewed the appeal on Dec, 16-17.

"Experts say there is no problem with granting National Bank Status to Geigel Lake. The documents have been referred to the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry. I suppose the problem will be settled shortly," he said.

It is officially forbidden to rest at the Geigel Lake Reserve. But, tourists will be able to visit after it becomes National Park. 16 cars have been allotted and there is a path for walking to the lake.

Geigel Lake - a pearl of exceptional beauty framed by wooded mountains - is located in the foothills of the Kyapaz Mountains at a height of 1,556 meters above sea level.
