The 4th Congress of Azerbaijani journalist has begun.

He said that the council took measures to release two journalists - Shahin Agabeyli and Samir Adigozelli and also mentioned that they appealed to relevant bodies, and at last the journalists were released.

Aflatun Amashov suggested appealing to the government on Azadliq correspondent Sakit Zahidov's release.

The chief of the council stated that though the journalists wear special uniform, but they still face some problems, pressures and beating.

The chairman also said that he hopes that the law enforcement bodies will be able to find Monitor magazine editor-in-chief Elmar Huseynov's assassins.

Amasov stated that PC mobilized its energy to overcome the problems faced in connection with press and noted that sometimes the council can not manage with problems.

The council did its best to prevent the removing of Azadliq newspaper, Turan information Agency and other mass media from their premises, the chairman noticed.

PC chief asked the congress to give competence for taking measures about the problems occurred in press. "This competence allows appealing to court when the press bodies break journalism ethics, after being warned for four-five times."

Amashov said that collecting of membership fees is low (20 %). According to his words, some mass media even do not keep in touch with council. That is why 25 mass media were removed from PC. More 20-25 organs were warned for the last time. The council stressed the inevitability of the fact that the person, whose imprisonment has not been cancelled, can not work as the editor-in-chief.
