ANS Vice-President: "President Ilham Aliyev helped ANS resume broadcasting"

13 December 2006 [16:09] - TODAY.AZ
"Many contributed to re-start of ANS TV and Radio, but President Ilham Aliyev played the most vital part. First of all, we thank Allah," ANS Group of Companies Vice-President Mir Shahin Aghayev stated.

He admitted that veterans, intelligentsia, parliamentarians, sportsmen, and all Azerbaijani people had a great role.

He said that the National Television and Radio Council put some stipulations for ANS, APA reports.

"ANS has to stop re-broadcasting foreign channels, shut down its radio station in Sheki and submit bids for a broadcast license next year. We fulfilled the first condition on Dec.12. We shut down Sheki radio in the end of 2005. As to the third stipulation, we can submit bids to win if we are granted a license. President Ilham Aliyev helped us to return to airwaves and we hope that we will not be left without license," he said.

Mir Shahin Aghayev said ANS suffered damage because its principal income is gained from advertising.

"I can't say anything exact about the amount of damage. I am grateful to all the staff of ANS. They worked or ANS in that hard time. We will borrow a credit from banks to pay off the utilities dues," he said.
