29 November 2006 [11:36] - TODAY.AZ
Migration authorities detained 60 illegal aliens from CIS countries at the Luzhniki trade center on Tuesday, said spokeswoman for the Moscow department of the Federal Migration Service /FMS/ Zalina Filimonova.

"Among the detainees are citizens of Ukraine and Moldova, who worked as sellers on the market, and guests from Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. They all were detained for various violations of the migration legislation; some had no documents at all, while others lacked registration or work permits," Filimonova said.

The detainees are now at police station #135. "Administrative protocols are being drawn over the facts of exposed violations; they will be referred to courts which will consider the penalty.

She underlined that during the planned check on Tuesday, the migration authorities exposed a number of violations, which they reported to the market administration.

"But guards barred the entry to the office for the FMS personnel, and began to beat them. Head of the migration control department, Moscow, Viktor Makarov was injured in the fracas," Filimonova said.

The Khamovniki district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case over the beating of FMS official during the check of the Luzhniki market, she added. Itar-Tass
