AIF leader Osman Gunduz and Samed Abbasov, coordinator of AzNet project, made a speech at the roundtable.
Osman Gunduz said that the Education Ministry and various international organizations have been working to implement the State Program for Schools' Computerization. However, there is no coordination in this process, each agency has its own plans and works separately.
He added that the studies held by AIF proved that at present only 3 percent of Azerbaijani schools are connected to internet and only 0.2 percent of schools have their own websites and there are no sites on subjects in the schools.
There is also lack of literature about information technology for teachers of other subjects. Financing of the schools' connection to internet is also unclear.
Gunduz said that manuals for all users, a single agency for the coordination of the process and transparency are needed for the development of internet technology in education.
Roundtable participants held discussions and expressed their proposals on the development of IT in education.
In conclusion, it was decided to issue an appeal to the ministries of Education and Communication and IT to take into consideration all the proposals of the forum participants. Turan
