Criminal case to be launched against Senet newspaper

12 November 2006 [11:32] - TODAY.AZ
Today, the editor-in-chief Samir Sedaqetoglu of Senet newspaper and Rafig Tagi met with Rustem Usubov, First Deputy of Prosecutor in Prosecutor’s Office, Sedaqetoglu told.

He said that they were invited because of the article "Europe and We" published in the last issue of the newspaper.

Usubov said a criminal case will be launched against the newspaper in Investigation Department of Grievous Crimes Department.

"Azerbaijan is a country of freedom of speech and there is no need to generate public excitement. When the article was published I was not in the office. Besides, the newspaper is not responsible for the views of authors," the editor said.

Sedagetoglu said the newspaper will apologize for the article in the next issue, APA reports.
