Javadaga Sultanov testifies

10 November 2006 [21:02] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

Javadaga Sultanov, Baku Main Police Board former deputy chief gave testimony. "When I was working BMPB Crime Investigation Department, criminalist Rovshen Aliyev came to me and asked to help about kidnappings in Baku. I promised him to help. After this meeting, Rovshen came to my office again and we had a talk. My last meeting with Rovshen was in the tea-house near the Sea Port. We talked about Azer Ismayilov's missing. Rovshen knew that our officers will be arrested and Zakir Nasirov was at the head of all these. He said that Zakir had armed-groups in Garabulag but I did not believe. After a month and half of Rovshen's death I began to believe his words. I told Maharramov Aliyev about it and he told me to be attentive. If I had documented his words, they would have killed me. After Rovshen's death I was engaged in Majid Mammadov's kidnapping but it was taken from me. After Majid's release it became clear that it was the continuation of the previous crimes," Sultanov said.

Sultanov gave testimony on Fatullah Huseynov's murder and said Zakir Nasirov also was in the site. "Zakir Nasirov said that Huseynov was killed by two guns, but I continued the investigation. I asked Huseynov's son Adil Huseynov to appeal if he knows his father's murderer. But any appeal was received," he said.

Sultanov gave testimony on Zamire Hajiyeva's kidnapping. "As soon as I heard about Zamire's kidnapping I went to Hajiyev's office. When I was in the room a letter came. I told Hajiyev that I will investigate the case by myself. But Hajiyev after talking over the phone with president said that the investigation will be held by NSM. I said his wife was kidnapped by Zakir Nasirov and his men. Maharram Aliyev also advised Hajiyev to believe me," he said.

Answering Haji Mammadov's questions he said that he did not know Boris Eyyubov, Chechen by nationality. "I knew about the detention of Chechen's car after Kamil Sadraddinov's call. Asked whom were you afraid to declare Rovshen's words? He answered that he was the only person who was not afraid of his group.

Sultanov denied that he had a photo with Eyyubov. "I had not been in any party with Chechens. May be we have taken photo at a wedding," he said. "I do not believe Javadaga’s words. Nobody was informed existence of the group."

Sultanov declared the reasons why Rovshen Aliyev told only him about this group. "Rovshen knew that I am involved only in kidnapping cases. I do not know whether Maharram Aliyev made a report to the President and Prosecutor General about what Rovshen said," he said.

The trial will be continued on November 14, APA reports.
