President Aliyev sings the Rabbi of Bakus song in Brussels

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is on a two day visit to the capital of the European Union, met yesterday with Ambassadors, representatives of international organizations of several countries, including Rabbi Levi Matusof from the European Jewish Community Centre.

Levi Matusof spoke the collaboration of the activities of the Jewish Community in Baku, headed by Rabbi Meir Bruk and the European Jewish Community, the president praised the generous contribution to the Jewish community of Azerbaijan by Mr. Lev Leviyev the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS.

President Aliyev, also addressing the media present and his delegation stated: "We have a great Rabbi in Baku. Not only he is a Jewish Leader but also a great singer. I often see his clip on television with the children wearing the hats and I enjoy watching it", referring to the song "Azerbaijan", sang by the Jewish boys choir of Baku directed by Rabbi Meir Bruk, which thank the people of Azerbaijan for its tolerance and is shown on local television.

"Besides his contribution to the society, he is sending a very positive message to our country and I wish to commend him for that". Levi Matusof shared with the President that this song has reach the European Union and spontaneously they started singing together "Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan, seviram, sani seviram"!
