08 November 2006 [22:32] - TODAY.AZ
Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

26 members of the gang stand trial presided by Judge Ali Seyfaliyev in the second half of the day, APA reports.

The chief of Baku Main Police Board Department Fighting for Organized Crimes Aydin Rzayev gave testimony on the episode of Zamire Hajiyeva's kidnapping and said that he heard about it from Jahangir Hajiyev.

"Jahangir Hajiyev called me saying that Zamire was kidnapped and offered to meet. I made a report to Javadaga Sultanov. He said that he will come after making a report to the chief. Later I went to the meeting. First his driver, then Jahangir came. Jahangir took the letter near the shop. The letter wrote that it is some kind of business and his wife will be released if he pays.

Then we walked to Jahangir's office. Javadaga Sultanov together with Maharramov came too. Javadaga said everything was under the police control, but Jahangir after talking over the phone with president said NSM will be involved in the case."

He said Zamire was kidnapped by Zakir Nasirov and his men. Nizami Gasimov and Maharram Aliyev also heard this. No-one but Zakir Nasirov was mentioned during the talk. Rzayev answered Adil Ismayilov's questions and said that Maharram Aliyev and Sultanov did not make a report to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and his deputies. Rzayev noted that he heard Hajiyeva's release on TV. He said he knew Nasirov to be an educated person, but arrested him because of his sin.

"When we knew about kidnapping, these cases were taken from us. I heard about it from Javadaga," Rzayev said.

Zakir Nasirov said his relations with Sultanov were tense. The process will continue on November 9.
