Standoff between police and students outside Education Ministry

Narimanov district Police Department took the control of the building before the protest action. Gathering in Tabriz Str. at 12.00 the students moved in the direction of the Ministry, APA reports.

But they met the resistance of the police. Saying that the action is unapproved the police demanded from the students to break up. The students announced that they have freedom of assembly.

As a result of it there was a standoff between the police and the students. Some students were beaten, one of them fainted. Half an hour later the students broke up.

"Court will deliver a judgement on November 10. It is not right to hold an action without waiting the judgement," said the colonel leading the process.

He also said that no one was injured during the protest action. Elnur Mammadov the member of the Committee of Students' Right Protection said that unless the judgement is in their favor a larger protest action will be held outside Education Ministry.
