Azerbaijan, Russia religious leaders meet in Moscow

On October 27, Chairman of Clerical Office of Moslems of the Caucasus Sheikulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade met in Moscow with Alexy II, Head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

At the meeting, also was taking part the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, the Bishop of Baku and Caspian region father Alexander, other officials.

During the meeting, religious leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia have confirmed the adherence to preservation of high level of friendly and good-neighborhood relations, more active interaction between two peoples, have noted the high level of mutual understanding as between leaders of the Christian and Muslim community, and between two faiths.

In particular, the religious leader of the Caucasian Moslems said: "We are connected with warm friendship relations which develop in ascending order and carrying out of similar meetings only strengthens and deepens mutual understanding. Our regular meetings will promote religious rapprochement of our peoples, the peace and consent in society."

Pashazade also has expressed gratitude to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the organization of the representative inter-religious forum, which has passed in Moscow in this summer.

In turn, Alexy II has noted, that dialogue between religious leaders has exclusive value for mutual understanding and cooperation. He has expressed to Pashazade gratitude for participation and the help in carrying out of the Moscow meeting of religious leaders, having noted importance of carrying out of similar forums in the coming years.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church added that the Christian community in Azerbaijan feels very comfortably, has emphasized special role of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev paying huge attention to Orthodoxy and other faiths in republic, to maintenance of normal activity of representatives of all religions, tolerance in society.

As a whole, the parties have noted exclusive importance of the summit for development of inter-confession dialogue, have emphasized, that during the last forum, were held working sessions and the numerous informal meetings which passed in atmosphere of friendliness and mutual understanding.

During conversation, also was focused on the question of carrying out of the International Conference of religious leaders with participation of clergy of region and visitors from the different countries. AzerTAg
