Farhad Mammadbayov: "I got $50 000 for kidnapping of Majid Mammadov"

26 members of the gang stand trial presided by judge Ali Seyfaliyev.

Public prosecutors asked questions to defendant Farhad Mammadbayov. The defendant faces charges on 15 episodes, and criminal case was launched under article 25 of the Criminal Code.

He was interrogated at Khatai district police office on the murder of Azer Ismayilov, department chief of Interior Ministry Department to Fight Narcotic Drugs.

Mammadbayov said he was detained at the police of for 17 days adding that he saw former deputy Interior Minister Zahid Dunyamaliyev.

The defendant said he was aware of Haji Mammadov's building a house for former chief of Crime Investigation Department Zakir Nasirov in Garabulag area. He said he met Zakir Nasirov when coming to Garabulag restaurant in 2002. Mammadbayov noted that Haji used to tell them not to fear as Zakir would protect them.

The defendant said he got $50 000 for the kidnapping of Majid Mammadov. Nizami Abdullayev got $100 000 and Eldar Rahimov $10 000. He also noted Haji Mammadov had told he would give $700 000 to Zakir Nasirov for the case of Majid Mammadov.

As coming to the kidnapping of Zamira Hajiyeva, International Bank of Azerbaijan Managing Staff chief Jahangir Hajiyev's wife, Mammadbayov said he only had telephone talks in this case.

Public prosecutor solicited for declaring controversial nuances regarding Mammadbayov's testimonies to the investigation and trial. The Judge satisfied the solicitation.

The trial will continue today, APA reports.
