French-Azeri archeological research to be released soon

23 September 2006 [00:57] - TODAY.AZ
The outcomes of the first French-Azerbaijani archeological excavations will be announced in a conference at the French Culture Center in Baku on October 6.

The event will be dedicated to the researches conducted on the Bronze Age, the French embassy in Baku said.

The excavations, conducted in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, with financial support of the French Foreign Ministry, discovered that Azerbaijan played a great role in fostering close ties that existed between the Caucasus countries and Mesopotamia in the Neolith and Bronze Ages (from the 6th to 4th millennia b.c.e).

The first stage of the excavations conducted by a nine-strong team of archeologists from Azerbaijan, Georgia, France and Belgium has been completed. AssA-Irada
