4,570 crimes committed in Baku in January-August this year

They said one of the crimes was committed by gun, the other by pneumatic pistol. Both crimes have been revealed by efficient operation of Interior Ministry, Baku Police Department and Yasamal district Police Station. The criminals were detained and brought into the investigation.

"All these show the biased attitude of media to the matter," they said.

The Baku Police Department also stated that 4,570 crimes were committed in Baku during the eight months of the year out of 14 (0, 3%) which were committed by gun. Four of them were hooliganism, two intentional murdering, three attempts to murdering, two intentional bodily damage, two public-dangerous crimes and one robbery. Most of the crimes were committed on family dispute. About 90 percent of the crimes were revealed.

The Baku Police Department compared the facts with the indicators of 1992-1993, APA reports.

About 200 crimes were committed with gun in Baku that time and only 70 percent of them were revealed. There were 150-180 intentional murdering in these years while it was 70 in 2005 and 34 in the eights months of 2006. On the other hand, there were 40-50 unrevealed crimes in 1992-1994 while it is 7-8 in recent years.
