Firedamp explosion at Donetsk coal mine killed 11

At least eleven miners were killed and ten were injured in the firedamp explosion at 1078 m depth of Donetsk coal mine "Zasyad'ko".

The accident happened at 5:10 am today. Sudden increasing of methane volume has caused the explosion, APA reports.

There were 400 miners there, and 49 of them were working near the site when the explosion occurred. Rescuers could rescue 172 miners and 28 are missing.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister came to the site immediately and involved 56 brigades into the rescue operations.

Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich said it was a tragedy for the country, and they will do their best to rescue the miners.
