Azeri athletes gear for World Weightlifting Championship

Azerbaijani athletes completed their workouts in Moscow as preparation for the World Weightlifting Championship to be held from September 30 to October 7 in the Dominican Republic.

Senior coach Afsat Afsatov-led national team comprised of Asif Malikov (62kg), Sardar Hasanov (62kg), Afgan Bayramov (69kg), Asif Mammadov (69kg), Zaur Abdullayev (77kg), Turan Mirzayev (77kg), Intigam Zairov (85kg), Namig Jalilov (85kg), Alibay Samadov (94kg), Alan Naniyev (105kg) and Aydin Mammadov (over 105kg).

Prior to the Championship, the First Congress of the International Weightlifting Federation will take place in Santo Domingo. Ismayil Ismayilov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Executive Secretary of Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation and the first Vice President Vahid Nazarov will attend the event.
