18 September 2006 [16:31] - TODAY.AZ
26 judges have appealed to Interior Ministry for service firearms and they were provided with, Abdulmajid Afandiyev.

He said that the applicants are the judges of the Constitutional Court and Grave Crime Court.

"The court chief applies to the office for giving firearm to the judges for their family, property and own security. It depends on the judge’s activity and the character of the case he deals with," he said.

The Supreme Court judge Ogtay Magsudov said the security of judges is not ensured in satisfactory level.

"This problem is not taken more serious. Judge's family and property must be secured. Judges Security problem was mentioned in article 102 of Judges and Courts law," he said.

Magsudov stated the necessity of supplying judges with a gun.

Nasimi district court chief Aleddin Jafarov told that judges are secured by court inspectors while being in the court, and they can appeal to relevant bodies if there is any danger.

He said the criminogenic situation is stable in the country and that is why judges do not need guns, APA reports.
