The next bird flu monitoring started in Azerbaijan due to the start of migration of wild birds, which may cause spread of avian flu virus.

The monitoring is conducted by the Agriculture Ministry State Veterinary Service (SVS) in conjunction with the Ecology and Natural Resources and Health Ministries.

As APA reports, the monitoring will cover Absheron peninsula, Sarvan Hunting Economy, Shirvan National Reserve, Agghol National Park and Gizilagach National Preserve. During the monitoring till 22 September, blood samples will be taken from birds in poultry farms and private farms.

The samples will be tested at the Republic Veterinary Lab.

The Veterinary Service ensured veterinary stations’ serious working regime on borders. It provided the stations with disinfecting substances special uniforms.

Hunting, selling and consuming of birds are still prohibited in the country due to the bird flu risk.

During the previous monitoring, avian flu has not been monitored in migratory and domestic birds.
