16 September 2006 [14:37] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan and Russia set an example of good-neighborly relations, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said Friday as he addressed participants in the first International Festival of Russian-Language Books.

"Our relations are developing in an encouraging vein and we'd like them to develop as dynamically in the future, too," he said.

Aliyev indicated both countries have equal willingness to continue building up this relationship.

"Along with economic and political contacts, cooperation in the humanitarian sphere plays an irreplaceable role and it is moving to the forefront now," he indicated.

"I believe the rise of new statehoods in our countries has completed and we're past the economic crises, and a time has come when the demand for spiritual and intellectual values is growing," Aliyev said.

"This festival offers a brilliant opportunity to get to know the achievements of Russian and Russian-language literature," he said. "Simultaneously, it's an important event in terms of promotion of bilateral ties."
