New school year starts in Azerbaijan

As APA reports according to Education Ministry, 127, 940 pupils go to school for the first time this year.

There are 4 547 schools, about 174 000 teachers and 1 581 173 pupils in Azerbaijan. There are 346 schools and 388 981 pupils in Baku. The Minister said Azerbaijani schools are in need of 694 Azerbaijan language and Literature teachers, 861 foreign language teachers, 563 history teachers, 462 Geography teachers, 379 Chemistry teachers, 449 mathematics teachers and 499 physical training teachers.

Generally, 5,562 teachers are needed in different regions of Azerbaijan. The needed regions are Jalilabad, Khachmaz, Imishli, Lerik, Kurdamir, Masalli, Yardimli and Gusar.

The Ministry said new schools and additional buildings are being constructed for 102,089 pupils this year. 145 schools and additional buildings are ready, and 344 schools have been repaired.
