Former AFFA official: "Our football players can't win Finnish, Portuguese and Belgian teams"

"In all countries, professional footballers are involved in national team irrespective of their age. But we act in a quite different way. Deserving players were not involved in the match with Serbian and Kazakh teams. We needed Mahmud Gurbanov in the match with Kazakh team," Chingiz Ismayilov, AFFA former secretary general told the APA.

He said we could have won yesterday's match. "Our team could seize eight opportunities for goal. There were 100 percent goal positions. The only goal was scored from standard position. But Kazakhstani team made use of one of two goal opportunities," he said.

Ismayilov said he liked the Vagif Javadov's performance, but mentioned that the national team will have bad effect on him.

"Even if our footballers are presented with Boeing plane as a gift, they cannot possibly win Finnish, Portuguese and Belgian teams. Azerbaijan was known for its goalkeepers once. Now we can find no one to entrust the goal," he said.

Ismayilov also said it is good to demand current heads coach Shahin Diniyev's resignation.
