Sidek Abdulvahabov: "I was unaware of the plan to hijack a tourist bus"

07 September 2006 [20:14] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

Defendant Sidek Abdulvahabov answered questions on the kidnapping of Javid Manafov. "Chechen Osman and two more Chechens participated in the kidnapping of Javid Manafov. Shirkhan Albiyev ordered this. We attacked him in his car and kidnapped. Mammadov was aware of this operation."

However, Mammadov refuted Abdulvahabov's testimony. "I talked to Husain Abdulvahabov regarding this case. These two brothers (Sidek and Husain Abdulvahabov) will be a problem for us."

Sidek said Shirkan Albiyev had no role in kidnapping and then murdering of Azermebel Industrial Concern owner Nazim Pashayev. He also said he was unaware of the plan to hijack a tourist bus to Turkey from Baku in late 1998. Husain Abdulvahabov protested Mammadov's question on terrorist act saying there was not such a plan at all. Sidek also answered questions of several other defendants.

The trial will continue on 8 September, APA reports.
