Former USSR leader Mikhail Gorbachov conferred Personal Heroism order on Haji Mammadov

"I have known Haji Mammadov since 1989. I was a chief investigator on Baku Beer Plant director Fazil Shiraliyev's murdering fact. I worked in Prosecutors Office as a special investigator", Adil Ismayilov, IM Crime investigation Department former chief Zakir Nasirov's lawyer, told in the press conference.

"Haji Mammadov worked as Absheron Police Department Deputy chief. We worked in the same room. He was the member of investigation group."

He said Haji Mammadov was conferred Personal Heroism order medal by the former USSR leaderMikhail Gorbachov for the investigation.

"Big gang was exposed in this investigation. The gang committed crimes from 1976 to 1989. There were 7-8 murdering cases and about 35 robberies. 29 gang members were arrested. It was the first ordered crime exposed in the USSR. Haji Mammadov implies this facts alleging that I took bribe and cover up the culprits, but it was not so," Ismayilov said.

He also stated that they had no relations later on, APA reports.
