Haji Mammadov: "Elman Rustamov's involvement was not mentioned in kidnapping of Zamira Hajiyeva"

Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trail of criminal gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

In today's hearings, Adil Ismayilov, defense-lawyer for Zakir Nasirov, former head of Crime Investigation Department asked questions to Haji Mammadov.

Answering the question on the cause of the kidnapping of Zamira Hajiyeva, the defendant said, "Maybe, it was caused by a conflict. But I do not know whether there was a concrete dispute. I would tell if I knew who ordered the kidnapping. I am sure there is a certain big force behind this crime."

Responding the question whether chief of Managing Staff of National Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov might be involved in this crime, Haji ruled out Rustamov’s involvement. He also dissatisfied with the questions asked by the lawyer which he said aim blackmailing.

"Kidnapping of Zamira caused some problems as she is woman. But we were told it will be solved within two days. But it lased for some time. I had promised Zamira that I would release her without any money. I was only concerned about money. I was ordered to do this. Your defendant also aimed to get money. However, those who ordered the kidnapping, had special interests," he said.

Haji Mammadov also noted that he was not officially interrogated about the murder of Elmar Huseynov, "Despite Turkish experts' opinions I was not inquired related to that."
