17 August 2006 [21:30] - TODAY.AZ
During the first half of this year the internal affairs department of Karaganda region (Kazakhstan) detained nine people, subjects of an international search hiding from the law enforcement agencies of the neighbouring states, said Senior Assistant Prosecutor of Karaganda region Bahytjamal Jaksybaeva.

Seven of them were arrested for the purpose of extradition. The Prosecutor's Office said three of the arrested were citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, two from Russia, and one from Belarus and Azerbaijan each.

"The papers provided by the initiators of the international search indicate that people escaping punishment had committed grave crimes in their home countries. In some of the cases, it appears that they escaped from so-called "hot spots"," Jaksybaeva explained.
