15 August 2006 [15:22] - TODAY.AZ
"Ceasefire was declared in Lebanon on Monday. It is calm now. There are no bombings, no military planes. The devastated roads and bridges are being repaired," Azerbaijani honorary consul in Lebanon Nazih Gassoub told.

Mr.Gassoub said at least 500 000 houses have been devastated in Lebanon as a result of Israeli bombardments. He also said Lebanese refugees are coming back to their native homes.

"However, the refugees find it difficult to return because of ruined roads and bridges," Gassoub added.

The honorary consul restated that there were no Azerbaijani casualties due to recent events in Lebanon, APA reports.

"Perhaps, some of the evacuated Azerbaijanis want to come back to Lebanon. It will take some time. About 50 Azerbaijanis were evacuated from Lebanon during the bombardments. They have not yet appealed to us for returning," he said.
