Arrested newspaper editor starts hunger strike

13 August 2006 [02:19] - TODAY.AZ
"Milli Yol" newspaper editor-in-chief Shahin Aghabeyli, who was sentenced to one year in prison by the parliamentarian Arif Rehimzadeh's claim, met with his family.

The editor-in-chief assistant Pervin Kazimoglu told APA Aghabeyli has begun hunger strike protesting against the court verdict on the very day he was put into prison.
He did not pay attention to the prison chief's demand to stop hunger strike. Kazimoglu also said Aghabeyli finds Rehimzadeh's claim groundless, and he appealed to General Public Prosecutor Zakir Garalov, Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov, as well as, Parliament and Mehriban Aliyeva.

"Milli Yol" newspaper editorial staff will go on hunger strike on August 14, he added.
