The court proceedings against Haji Mammadov and his 26 co-defendants are chaired by Judge Ali Seyfaliyev. In today's trial, Haji Mammadov testified on kidnapping of assistant of Yasamal district prosecutor Murad Kazimov. He said he himself devised the plan of kidnapping and acted in concert with his gang members Aslanbek Kentamirov, Yagir Mammadov and Musa Dabuyev. He said they got $750 thousand from Kazimov's family to release him.
"We gave $150 thousand to chief of Crime Investigation Department Zakir Hasanov as he was aware of our crime. I told him beforehand that I would kidnap a well-to-do official," the defendant said.
He also testified on the murder of Prosecutor's Office investigation deputy chief and Criminalistic department chief Rovshan Aliyev.
"I had very good relationships with Rovshan Aliyev. He was a good specialist. Rovshan was aware of my conflict with Azer Ismayilov, department chief of Main Office to Fight Narcotic Drugs and my relationships with Chechens. He interrogated some of my gang members to disclose my part in the murder of Azer Ismayilov and relationships with Chechens. Zakir Nasirov told he would be very grateful for me if I killed Rovshan," he added.
Defense-lawyer for Zakir Nasirov accused the public prosecutors of making Haji Mammadov stand against Nasirov and referring to investigation materials.
Haji Mammadov responded to the questions of public prosecutors on his testimonies on the murder of Fatulla Huseynov aka Gara polkovnik, vice-president of Azerbaijan Football Federation Association.
Mammadov said he killed him due to the conflict on the administrative building of the International Bank branch in Nasimi district. He admitted having given $3.500 to Aslanbek Kentamirov for committing this murder.
In his testimony on the kidnapping of the president of International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev's spouse Zamira Hajiyeva, Mammadov said Main Crime Investigation Department chief Zakir Nasirov ordered this crime.
"Zakir Nasirov ordered me to kidnap either Jahangir Hajiyev or his wife. I myself devised the plan of kidnapping and we kidnapped Zamira Hajiyeva when she was leaving sports training center. That was a business matter, and I had told Zamira Hajiyeva about that," he said.
Mammadov also stressed has not been interrogated since his testimony on the murder of Monitor magazine chief editor Elmar Huseynov, "I heard on the radio, general public prosecutor Zakir Garalov said this issue will be considered. I deserve the severest punishment for this crime," he underlined.
The defendant also said he had relationships with the former economic development minister Farhad Aliyev.
