Secondary schools to be financed from state budget by new principles

09 August 2006 [08:32] - TODAY.AZ
Secondary schools will be financed from the state budget by new principles from next year.

The new form of financing will be applied in 56 secondary schools that gained financial independence. 14 of them are in Ali Bayramli city, 25 in Ismayilli and 20 in Ujar, APA reports.

The Education Ministry "Educational Sector Development" project coordinating group director Elvin Rustamov told that secondary schools have to date been financed by the state budget allocations. Next year 59 schools will receive the financial allocation in accordance with the number of pupils. The school will spend the allocation by its own division.

The school principle will not be directly charged with spending the allocation in order to ensure transparency.

School Councils functioning in the schools will work more actively and their regulations will be changed for this purpose. These Councils will be composed of school representatives, parents and members of local authorities.

Rustamov also said the Finance Ministry has agreed to the application of new financing form.
