Baku to host World Cup of Boxing

The national boxing team head coach Mammad Eyvazov told the APA the boxing tournament to take place in the Heydar Aliyev Sports Palace in late September will involve top eight strongest boxing teams of the planet.

Three European teams, including Azerbaijani teams will also compete for the World Cup. Russian team’s participation has been confirmed. There will be Ukraine or Belarusian team as well. African teams to participate in the tournament have not yet been announced. The US and Cuban teams will compete from America. Kazakhstani and Thailand teams will represent Asia.

Azerbaijani boxers will start trainings for the World Cup next week.
