Controversial reports on the hunger strike declared by life-term prisoners held in Gobustan jail of Azerbaijan continue to spread.

According to APA, 12 prisoners are going on hunger strike now. These lifers are reported to have serious health problems.

The Justice Ministry department head Rafig Ramazanov said to the APA that only one or two prisoners are going on hunger strike. Most of the protesting prisoners are receiving punishment for killing more than one person.

The APA has got sentence decisions of three strikers. Georgian striker Georgi Geladze arrived in Azerbaijan in 1997 after having committed a number of grave crimes in his country.

He in concert with his mate Yusif Aliyev killed Baku residents Zaman Abdullayev and Umay Aliyeva and injured Javahir Farzaliyev. They also robbed several apartments. Law enforcement bodies could not find criminal Yusif Aliyev. They suppose Giladze killed him too.

Another striker Rahib Mansimov is accused of committing terrorist acts in Baku. “Sadval” terror organization member Mansimov committed explosion in the 20 January subway station in Baku on 19 March, 1994 in concert with nine companions.
